His heart was broken by unreturned love.  The six-year-old boy sat with me in my school counseling office and poured out his angst.  I attempted to guide him to think of ways to ease his sadness while smiling in my mind at what I knew was just a child’s crush.  I realized, however, that he was quite in tune to my thoughts when he said, “You don’t understand.  I don’t just love Hailey; I am in love with Hailey.”

I don’t just want to love God.

I want to be in love with God.

I want to stay in love with God.

It’s the encouragement counsel Jesus gave when he said, “As the Father has loved me, so I love you.  Abide in my love” (John 15:9).

Abide.  The Greek word “meno”
